Invasive Pat Downs

In Sarah Clifton’s editorial “TSA Troubles” she speaks about how airport pat downs are too invasive and how they haven’t brought any good results other than scaring fliers.
Clifton starts off by mentioning a video that was posted up on youtube.com website showing a 6-year old girl being patted down by a TSA officer. This clearly made Americans angrier and started the dispute about the changes made at the airport security checks.
I agree pat downs like those are way over the line and even worse when it happens to children. There has to be other means of checking for terrorists. With all the money being put into these changes there has to be enough to get some kind of technology that isn’t as invasive.
Clifton also points out how there seems to not be a middle ground there are only two extremes. Either there are no invasive pat downs and terrorists get through or there are some even when innocent people pay the price. I know there has to be some way not to be having to choose one extreme or the other. People cannot be so single-minded and not think outside the box. I believe Americans would be much happier if their tax dollars were being used towards new technology that doesnt involve invasive pat downs yet gets the same job done.
